Let the wood
lead the room.

Start with the grain.
Then find your finish.

Explore real door combinations, learn what to compare, and bring a considered shortlist to your designer.

Explore the Finishes

Three choices. One finished room.

Genesis is DreamLine’s natural stain series. The wood, the stain, and the door profile work together—so choose them together, with your room in mind.

01

The wood

Start with the grain and natural character you want to see every day.

02

The stain

Compare lighter and deeper finishes against your floors and countertop.

03

The profile

Choose the amount of detail that suits the architecture of your home.

Doors & Finishes

See the wood, not just a color chip.

These are actual door combinations from the Genesis collection. Use them to compare grain, tone, and profile before exploring the full range.

Look a Little Closer

A stain name is only
half the decision.

Wood is part of the color. Put two species in the same stain beside one another and pay attention to the grain as well as the overall tone.

Bring a flooring sample and a countertop selection if you have them. A finish should make sense with the materials that will stay in your home.

Plan Your Palette

Build a room around the grain.

You do not need to arrive with every answer. A few thoughtful comparisons are enough to start a useful design conversation.

01

Let one wood take the lead.

Decide whether the cabinetry or the flooring will carry the strongest grain.

02

Look for a shared undertone.

Compare your cabinet sample with the floor and countertop in the same light.

03

Balance texture with quiet surfaces.

A simpler backsplash can give expressive wood room to be seen.

Have a few favorites? Bring them together.

A designer can help you compare your shortlist with the materials in your room.

Before You Decide

Genesis questions, answered.

A few useful details before you turn a favorite finish into a plan.

Can I see the stain on a real door?+
Yes. Bring your shortlist to the DreamLine showroom to compare full-size doors and finishes in person.
Will every wood door look identical?+
No, and that is part of the appeal. Natural wood varies in grain and color from board to board, so every door is slightly different. Stain evens out the tone, but the grain still shows through. The full-size doors in our showroom show the range you can expect.
How should I compare two stain finishes?+
Side by side, on full-size doors, in the light of the room they are going into. Hold each one against your flooring and countertop samples, and look at them in daylight and in the evening: a stain that reads warm at noon can look much darker at night.
What determines the cost of my cabinetry?+
The size and layout of the room, the number of cabinets, the wood and door style you choose, the finish, and the accessories inside, such as pull-outs, organizers, and lighting. Your written estimate after the in-home consultation lists each of these, so you can see where the budget goes.
